Jacques Thibaud Bach Gavotte BWV 1006 (rec. 1905)

Back

Jacques Thibaud (1880-1953) plays Bach, Gavotte from the 3rd solo Partita BWV 1006, on the Fonotipia label. Recorded in 1905. It's one of the first records Thibaud ever made... The Fonotipia label knew a great fame at the beginning of the 20th century. Not only for the quality of its recordings, but also for the care taken in the choice of its artists. Created in 1904 in Milan by Alfred Michaelis, it offered a remarkable catalogue specialized primarily in the field of the vocal art. Nevertheless, it published some recordings of instrumental soloists too. The record does not come from my personal collection (O, I wish it did... ☺) but comes from the collection of Gallica in France. For three years I have a website, where I post "out-of-copyright" (in the Netherlands) classical lp's and 78rpm's. It is updated every Friday: http://homepages.ipact.nl/~otterhouse Enjoy!
