The CHA's Renovated Wentworth Gardens Housing Project

Back

Not all CHA public housing is being torn down. This one, the 1945 Wentworth Gardens, just south of the Chicago White Sox's U.S. Cellular Field, has spent the last three years being completely renovated, inside and out. Our tour starts out in Bridgeport, goes east through the tunnel under the Norfolk Southern's railroad viaduct, and passes Cellular Field's southernmost lot before Wentworth Gardens' brown-brick townhouses and mid-rises, with their newly-painted dark red trim, come into view. You can also see how close they are to U.S. Cellular Field. For more info on them, visit this site: http://www.thecha.org/housingdev/wentworth_gardens.html
