You've got to see Vinnie live to believe it. He's playing the shit out of the drums and it never ends. I don't know any other drummer who can play licks/grooves like these as hard/loud and dead-on the beat all night long. Watch, listen and learn. Check out 3:20, the bell gets a pounding and notice Vinnie opening his index finger to make it possible. He does it again @ 3:41 and 4:00> A must if you're going to be pounding the metal and not let it destroy/deplete your hand, fingers and grip.

it's very surprising to me that anyone would say vinnie colaiuta is anything less than excellent, even as a joke. you must've had a bad experience at one of his gigs. maybe you were screaming at the top of your lungs for an autograph and he didn't hear you, and you cried the entire night? hmmmm? sound familiar?

i thought 5B is the standard.. i doubt weckl uses anything smaller.- No such thing as a standard drumstick, those days are gone. Weckl stcks are much thinner than a 5B, look em up.

What the hell noise is that at 1:33? I wouldn't call it stiff, it's tight b/c Colaiuta nails the 'sound' when he plays. Most pro drummers aren't there, they nail the mechanical part, the actual sound is off center of the beat by a fraction. Colaiuta can nail the 'sound' in the center of the beat like no other. Vinnie plays like a man. Man size sticks (5B) Weckl has a more feminine approach to the drums. :04 snare fill with HH. Most drummers balance w/left foot while playing a fill.
