MALHEBRE (November 12th, 2008 @ 5:25 pm)
The best fragment of this work is gregorian Dies Irae so it isn't composer's contribution. Instrumentation is ok that's all.

uuuuuuuuuuuaaaaaauuuu genial, fantàstic, increible, sublim, m'encata!A més, l'ambientació està molt d'acord amb la temàtica del poema simbfònic. Berlioz és el rei! Gràcies per penjar el video.

actually it is the gregorian melody of the "dies irae" ;)
InfernalPurge (June 19th, 2008 @ 8:47 pm)
That's the Dies Irae theme. It's a very old Gregorian melody of a text that matches this scene being the funeral of the story. Its text and music are still being used in other musical works, such as Shostakovic's 14th Symphony and Mozart's Requiem mass. You can check out the Gregorian chant somewhere around.

retrogaming (March 19th, 2008 @ 10:48 pm)
You've heard it in the opening of The Shining probably. Wendy Carlos remixed it eletronically for the film. It's one of the most powerful classic pieces out there, it's also sampled in Zombies on Super Nintendo. I absolutely love it, the whole 10 minutes. The version conducted by Salonen is close to the quality of Karajan's I must say.

I'd heard the song in something else before i heard it in the second coming in the nike add but i can't remember where. Gotta give props to them for using it.
