fried chicken is southern comfort food and watermelons are very cheap fruits eaten in hot weather. neither is hard to make nor grow and thus is associated with southerners both black and white, but since fried chicken is also considered "soul food," fried chicken has thus been labeled "black ppl food". .. though it doesn't stop me from enjoying a nice piece of friend chicken though.
