I think the joke comes from the fact House always refers to him as British? im not sure. just had me confused for a second.

Yeah, I just looked into that when I saw someone else say Australian, but he does sound British, I'm sure they mentioned what he was at some point on the show I just wasn't paying attention. I was comfortable assuming British. I thought Australians had a different thicker, deeper accent though, sort of like Jamaicans and the queens english, eh, nevermind.
